I have been a member since it's inception and strongly endorse Jasmine and her team to all who aspire to a better and fitter life.Let me tell you about my own experiences. I have two hip replacements and have diabetes. The latter is controlled by diet and exercise alone so my mobility is crucial.
My first hip replacement was five years ago and I met Jasmine fourteen weeks later when I returned to the gym for rehabilitation. Her expertise as an exercise physiologist ,along with her ability to alter any exercise to suit my needs and progress , led to me being passed fit for light skiing at the two year post surgery checkup.
Thirteen months ago I had my other hip replaced and worked out in the gym up to the night before entering hospital. It is possible to achieve results and workout safely even with problems severe enough for surgery. The support from Jasmine and her team was very important at this stage.
This time I came off crutches at eight weeks and returned to the Bodhi Space straight away. My rehabilitation was so good that six months later I spent two months in Europe.
Since my return I have increased my program and enjoy my new Pilates routine which is fine tuning my flexibility.
My husband Dennis is also a Bodhi Space member and has found the facilities and individual programs invaluable in dealing with orthopedic problems.
We enjoy the friendly atmosphere and the company of other members from all walks of life and age groups
If your aim is a well balanced and fit life the Bodhi Space is for you. Every success to Jasmine and her team. Edna Parsons - june 06
IS EXERCISE A GIMMICK. Exercise, the dirty E word. what is the value of this. It keeps people at Bodhi Space employed, they have to buy new equipment to service people. Its a whole industry. But here's the thing, exercise saved my life. A bit dramatic you may say. Recently I have had a dozen or so instances of severe chest pain radiating to neck and arms. I had a totally blocked coronary artery. Apparently that's not good I am told. How did exercise help during this attacks on my heart? My artery has probably been 80% blocked for 18 months, explains why I felt so bad. As I exercised, blood to the area of my heart supplied by the right coronary artery was restricted. To compensate the other arteries created a bypass to keep that alive. When I have had my episodes, the heart should have been damaged. But exercise had pushed my body to fix itself and survive. I have had 4 stents put into my artery, and though I am very tired, I have found the value of exercise. It stopped me from dieing. Exercise is NOT a gimmick. David - sept 05 The Bodhi Space is a great place to get fit! The Bodhi Space staff are motivational, getting even the most unfit person to enjoy exercise. My Personal Trainer, Stewart, is a great motivator, helping me achieve my personal fitness goals and always encouraging me to reach for that next level! I am fitter, healthier and happier since Stewart has been training me, and my friends and family have noticed my increased energy levels. The Bodhi Space makes you feel welcome, safe and good about yourself. Sarah L- mar 05 I was far from impressed when my doctor told me that I was the “classical syndrome X”, which means – over 50 years, overweight with high cholesterol, high blood pressure and a diabetic!! I left determined to get rid of that “label”. This is when Bodhi Space came to the rescue! NOT just another gym – Bodhi Space is a very special centre, which is affordable with trainers who are friendly, dedicated, and full of encouragement and motivation. Just when you think you are going to die you hear, “ONLY 30 seconds to go”, “keep going”, “great work”, “you can do it” – and, of course you do! 12 months later and I am still over 50 years (they don’t seem to be able to do anything about this) – BUT with normal blood pressure, normal cholesterol, normal sugar readings AND 9 kilos lighter!! – And feeling great. My husband keeps telling everyone I am spending all my time with ‘gym’!! Thanks Bodhi Space you are ALL great!! Keep up the exceptional work!! Janice D - apr 05 i am pleased to say I have been a member of the Wickham Terrace gymnasium (now called The Bodhi Space) for over 4 years. It is a smaller gym offering more personalised services. Jasmine Grochau has assisted at/ supervised the gym for about 2 of those 4 years. I have found her, and the all other staff at the gym, to be very helpful in terms of devising personal exercise programs and in the implementation of those programs. Their cheerfulness and help are one of the reasons I continue at the gym after more than 4 years. More recently I have engaged Stewart Guild to assist me in more personalised training for at least 1 session per week. This involves a variety of exercises and has occurred over the past approximate 6 months. Stewart is innovative in his training of me, always coming up with new ways of training, usually about one step ahead of me mastering a particular exercise. Boredom is never an issue. I am very happy to recommend this gym and the staff. Clive Briggs - mar 05 What a difference, in less than a year, with the encouragement and support from the special people at the Bodhi Space, I am exercising regularly, trying to Latin dance and bushing walking in the mountains. After falling and breaking a bone and feeling I was declining into a doddery old age, I met this group of people from the Bodhi Space and now, less than 10 months later, everyone has noticed the difference and change in my lifestyle and I feel years younger. Every member of the Bodhi Space has such a positive and caring attitude that I enjoy each of the events that are organised with all the various levels of fitness of each person in the group including the doddery old ones like me. (They have given me the gentle shove I needed) Sandra B - feb 05 |
